Sangeetha, Land for Cultivation
My husband works for a landowner. “Why should we give the profit of his work in the betel fields to the landowner, I thought.” Our income was not sufficient to feed good food, clothe decently, and repair our thatched shelter. The children are starving and always taking noon meal in the school given freely. Only with my loan could I lease land so that could I begin my own business.
I took my husband’s training in techniques of cultivation, plugging, processing, packing, marketing, and selling. From my leased fields I sell not only in the market, but also at village functions and festivals. Now my children are taking food from home to school. Someday with future loans from Prosperity Rings and SHWET, I will have my own land.
