Mahaeswari, Organic Herbal Soup, Rice & Tea
My father was always drunk. We lived in a thatched house and were very poor. I had to drop out of school in 3rd standard. When I reached 19, I had to marry my cousin who, as an agricultural coolie, earned 150-200 rupees a day. We now have two boys and a girl who is affected by polio. My daughter’s wheelchair, caliper, and rehabilitation program for her polio proved too much for us and I had to find our way.
During Prosperity Rings’ visit, they said to look for a need and then write a business plan. I followed that advice. With my loan from SRIA and Prosperity Rings I created an organic herbal soup. It is a big success and I sell it along with rice and tea at the farmers market, schools, and the Taluk and Union offices. Now my income is an unbelievable sum of Rs 18,000 to 20,000 a month. My goal, by employing two ladies, is to expand and have a tiffin center near the market. My family is so very grateful for our loan.
